SELECTED (PUBLISHED) AUDIO WORK

CONVICTION - a podcast anthology series about crime and justice

︎︎︎I produced, wrote, scored, and sound designed Episode 4: Hell Hath No Fury, which tells the story of Max B’s trial and brings the listener into the courtroom.  And I contributed to researching, reporting, producing, and editing the rest of the series.

The Conviction of Max B ︎
The Conviction of Max B tells the story of a rapper who risked it all for a bag full of money, a robbery gone wildly wrong, a messy trial, and a sentence that makes you question who the justice system works for and who it works against.

DUET - two artists take turns sharing the tracks that have shaped them

︎︎︎I produced and edited the show, and helped develop its sound identity, with scoring and cinematic sound design that take the listener on a trip down someone else's memory lane.

Songs for Difficult Times ︎
Mavis Staples is a legend in the music world. Yola is a singer-songwriter from Bristol whose star is on the rise. They share songs and the memories behind them.

MURDER BALLADS - a show investigating what’s behind some old songs

Revenge ︎

In murder ballads, women are often the victims – until women songwriters and singers flip the script.

︎︎︎ I pitched the show concept
of a music documentary series that would explore the legacy  of murder ballads and the true crimes they recount. It became  a limited series weaving together interviews, storytelling, and full songs. I conducted extensive research for the series and lead produced the episodes  Revenge and In the Pines.

In the Pines ︎

SCIENCE VS - fact-checkers that blow up your firmly held opinions and replace them with science

︎︎︎I provided production support to Science Vs for their weekly coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I interviewed a dozen Swedish people about their trust in their government; researched bats’ crazy immune system; spoke with a gastroenterologist about his sneaky testing method to detect COVID-19 in the cells lining the intestine; and selected tape about a conspiracy theory linking the CIA to a 1971 pig virus outbreak in Cuba.

︎︎︎ I developed the show concept and production processes; pitched, booked, and interviewed guests; and produced the episodes below.
Chris Smalls ︎

CHOMPERS - an award-winning twice-daily toothbrushing show for kids

︎︎︎I pitched, wrote, fact-checked, edited, assembled, scored, and sound designed countless Chompers episodes and helped manage the production calendar and publishing platform. I also coordinated with the Spotify Mexico team for their Spanish adaptation of Chompers: Mordelones.

BETTER FOR IT - a branded interview podcast for business leaders and entrepreneurs (by Gimlet Creative)

Joah Spearman ︎

Founder Joah Spearman on slowing down and staying away from the “bright, shiny object” that almost wrecked his business.

GIMLET PROJECTS - (other Spotify Original Podcasts produced by GImlet)

.

︎︎︎ I’ve developed most of the shows I’ve worked on at Gimlet. The Get Up and 10 Questions with Kyle Brandt are examples of shows for which I developed pilot episodes that shaped the show - another team produced each show once it was greenlit. Think of my role as a pilot-season producer.
